Shield Security, and key members of our surveillance team in the 24-hour CCTV Control Room, have met the latest industry standards with regards to the monitoring and protection of public spaces.

Having invested heavily into new software to improve efficiencies in the Control Room over the past 12 months, we have now secured the latest SIA Public Space Surveillance Licence.

The accreditation, which is required as part of an the annual NSI Audit, provides reassurance to local communities that all of our public space CCTV systems are managed appropriately, and that the information gathered from them is used in an appropriate manner and in accordance with strict guidelines.

It demonstrates that Shield Security employs screened and trained personnel to conduct CCTV in public spaces, and managing director Dave Frank says it is an important accreditation.

“In recent years we have seen a big shift in security services, moving away from manned guarding and with a big increase on CCTV and technical security. It is why we as a business have invested heavily in not only our control centre, but also in developing new products and services in our surveillance options,” he said.

“With us having many contracts with public bodies such as local authorities and health organisations, this is an important accreditation, as it shows we are constantly training our staff, monitoring and improving our methods and equipment, and doing all we can to protect premises and people.”

Shield Security recently invested heavily in a new CCTV interface system and followed this up by providing a training course for control centre operatives. Jason Wainman, Matt Murrell, Darren Sharlotte, Samantha Steels, Robert Mattinson, Mike Fisher, Omar Nyang, Mohamed Olagboye, Craig Reed and Gary Foote have all passed new qualifications.
