Shield Security is delighted to be part of a new project aimed at helping schools across East Yorkshire by supplying them with projects and services at the very best prices – and committing to offering students valuable work experience.

The Ready Steady Go scheme has seen 12 firms come together to offer everything from security services to school uniforms and computer software.

The project aims to raise the profile of Hull suppliers, helping schools access all their needs from within the region, rather than taking their business outside of the city.

Dave Frank, managing director of Shield Security, says it is an initiative which can have long-term benefits for all involved.

“At Shield Security we have always looked to forge close relationships with schools through mentorship programmes, and we have always being willing to offer work experience placements. It is important to give something back,” said Mr Frank.

“However, we want schools to realise that they can also to turn to many companies in Hull to carry out work and provide key services for them. Many are currently using companies outside of the city which simply don’t put anything back into Hull. They just take the money out.

“Local companies who these schools come to for help need to understand that not only can we help them and their children, but if given the chance to carry out work for the schools we could grow to take on more kids and more apprentices, redistributing any profits back into Hull.

“A big part of this project will also be about helping schools with finding work experience placements, which many find difficult, and giving kids a chance with apprenticeships like we have done here at Shield.

“It’s an exciting project, and if we get it right, we can actually complete a circle where Hull, as a city, is truly looking after itself.”

All partners in the scheme have committed to a customer service charter which will ensure schools will always get consistently high standards.

Founder Paula Stead, of Steady Schoolwear, told the Hull Daily Mail: “Ready Steady Go is about getting out there and letting people know there are fantastic businesses in this city that can provide everything schools need, at the right price.

“Schools tell us they spend hours trawling the internet for good companies, and they are wasting their time because they are not sure what they are looking for.

“This project is an easy way for us to let people know about the other local businesses we use and we can highly recommend.”

Other firms joining Shield in the scheme are KC, software company Alert CMS and sports programme provider Tigers Trust.
