Shield Security is delighted to have been awarded a major contract to patrol and protect all Hull College sites – bringing extra safety and security for thousands of staff and pupils over the next two years.

It will see the company provide security services including maintaining and monitoring alarm and CCTV systems, manned guarding and the management of car parks in Hull, Goole and Harrogate, as well as numerous smaller satellite centres.

Working alongside the college’s own in-house security officer, the range of services will provide an effective front line across the Group, providing a safe learning and working environment for all users and visitors to the college sites, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Shield’s managing director Dave Frank, a former security officer who established the business over 10 years ago, was delighted to come out on top and secure the contract following a tendering process.

“We are delighted that Hull College has put its faith in a local company to ensure its premises, staff, and students, are in the safest of hands,” said Mr Frank.

“We are particularly pleased that the college is allowing us to take over the systems they already have in place, but also enhance them with investment into our own CCTV and alarm systems which benefit from the latest in technological advances.

“Our work with local authorities sees us regularly tasked with managing security over a large number of sites for clients, and this experience will play a key part in ensuring Hull College has the best security package possible to suit its needs.”

Geoff Stevens, Hull College’s Estates and Premises Manager, said Shield’s commitment to providing a high-value and high-quality security package had made it the outstanding bidder during the tendering process.

“Shield ticked all the boxes as they are a company who go about their business in the right way,” said Mr Stevens.

“Obviously, our priority is always to employ a company we feel will provide the best security to ensure a safe learning environment for our students and staff.

“Not only does Shield do this in the services they provide, but we were also impressed with their environmental approach, their dedication to doing things in the right way, and their commitment to not just providing security, but also a security service.

“Working with Shield and using their expertise, we will be able to provide a top quality security service and it will enable us to invest in the latest technology to ensure we have an effective system, monitored and maintained centrally by a company with a great track record.

“For our part, it takes the worry of security issues away as we know we can rely on Dave’s team to deal with any issues efficiently and professionally.”

The contract is the latest won by Shield in the educational sector, and follows a recent deal secured with the University of Hull to manage a permit-based car parking system at its sites.
